A foundation that provides financial aid
to qualified students in healthcare fields.
The Helen Laidlaw Foundation was established in 1990. This non-profit, private foundation honors Helen Laidlaw Beauchamp, who was born in Tawas Township, Iosco County, Michigan. She was a graduate of Tawas City High School and of the University of Michigan School of Nursing.

The purpose of the Foundation is to provide scholarship money to qualified candidates who intend to enter the healthcare field. First consideration will be given to candidates from Iosco County, then Northeastern Michigan counties and, finally, to candidates from the entire state of Michigan. The funds are available to candidates seeking undergraduate degrees, as well as to candidates in non-degree programs in a healthcare related field. Nursing candidates will receive preference over students enrolling in other fields of medically related study.

The funding will be on an annual basis but the intent is to provide the candidate with assistance for the duration of his or her education program up to four years. Scholarship and curriculum standards must be consistent with the Foundationís purpose. Annual reapplication is required. Funds are distributed by the Board of Trustees and will be paid directly to the educational institution.

Candidates must be enrolled full-time in an accredited institution of higher education. Application forms are available in high school counseling offices, from this website or by mail. Deadline for application is April 1st of each year. Recipients will be announced on or before May 31.

The Helen Laidlaw Foundation is a private 501(C) (3) organization,
as defined in section 509(a) of Internal Service Code.
